Elaine Frances Metro, 63, of Saline, formerly of Mesick, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, in Littleton, Colorado. She was born Sept. 24, 1952 in Traverse City, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Egan) Chandler.

Elaine was born and raised in Mesick and spent most of her adult life in Brighton, Grand Rapids and most recently, Saline.

She was a faithful and active Catholic who frequented various Catholic churches during her life; however, her "home base" was St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish, where she played the organ for eight years from age 12 to 20.

Elaine thoroughly enjoyed ballroom dancing and would go as often as she was able. She loved her music as well. Elaine was always very active and loved the outdoors. She also loved to go for walks, kayak and bike.

Elaine's sweet spirit and huge smile meant she was adored by many and will be very missed.

Elaine is survived by her adoring daughters, Sunshine (Coline Torrie) Metro, of Auckland, New Zealand, Amber (Jonathan) Metro, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Nicole (Damon) Fyke, of Littleton, Colorado; her siblings, Ruth (John) Schaub, of Buckley, Donald (Dorothy) Chandler, of Hamilton, Irene (Jim) Oliver, of Davenport, Florida, Richard (Sherri) Chandler, of Roseland, Florida, Philip Chandler, of Roseland, Florida, Elaine Metro, of Ypsilanti, Regina (Kim) Couls, of Macomb, David Chandler (Jeff Holm), of Traverse City, Michael Chandler, of Manton, John (Beth) Chandler, of Manistee, and Kathleen Chandler, of Ypsilanti; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish, with Father Ruben Munoz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Cleon Township Cemetery in Copemish. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Raphael Catholic Church Alter Society or to the Ship of Hope Fund at The Parish of St. Jude in Grand Rapids.
