Emma Jean Frederick, age 63, of Honor, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

Emma was born on March 24, 1958, in Pontiac, the daughter of William E. and Donna N. (Petsch) Frederick, Sr. She attended and graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1976.

Emma Jean "Jeannie" was a wonderful wife, mom, and grandma. She was always a happy face to so many and loved being around family and friends. She owned and operated J&L Distributing for 35 years and enjoyed serving the community until she retired in 2018Jeannie loved to spend her time hunting, gardening, watching the deer on her property in Garden, finding the perfect Petoskey stones to polish into gems, collecting antiques, and was always lending a helping hand to others and will be missed by many.

Emma is survived by her fiancé, Daniel Haswell of Honor; daughters, Jamie (Tommy) Chinault and Julie (Christopher) Hill; stepchildren, Scott Haswell, Michelle Healy and Suzie Keillor; grandchildren, Pierce Hill, Jared Kalins, Jeramy Kalins, Paige Hill, Journey Kalins, Michael McConnell, Rian McConnell, Ronin Haswell, Iver Haswell; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Jackson; her favorite uncle Dennis Cheylava; sisters, Bernice Batson and Roberta Mae Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her dear friends, Lisa & Chris, Dustin & Katie, and Gordy, in Garden, for always being there and helping her.

Emma is preceded in death by her father, William, Sr; her brothers, Billy and Larry Frederick; and her sister, Denice Hughes.

There will be no services held during this time. A celebration of life will be planned for the summer of 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Benzie County Animal league or shelter.
