Lake Leelanau, MI - In Loving Memory of Erica Burton

Erica Burton was born on October 26, 1992, and passed away on February 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and deep love for all living things, along with an extended loving family of numerous friends.

Erica is survived by her devoted parents, Elizabeth ("Lisa") Mark Burton, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother and best friend, Michael, who passed in 2017. We take comfort knowing they are reunited once again.

Erica had a rare and beautiful soul. She was a fierce lover of animals, especially wildlife, and dreamed of rehabilitating creatures who had no voice of their own. Her heart was gentle but powerful, and she poured her love into every being she cared for, most especially her cherished macaw, Scoochie, who was truly her companion and family.

She felt most alive near water and under open skies. Erica loved walking the shoreline searching for rocks and seashells, collecting pieces of the earth she felt spiritually connected to. She adored crystals and believed deeply in their energy and healing properties, often using them as grounding tools during moments of reflection. Nature was her sanctuary, her teacher, and her safe place.

Erica had a strong spiritual connection to the world around her. She believed in signs, energy, and the unseen threads that bind us together. She trusted intuition, honored quiet moments, and lived with a deep respect for the natural balance of life.

She carried warmth wherever she went, whether caring for animals or laughing with family. Erica taught those around her how to love deeper, protect what is fragile, and stay connected to what truly matters.

Though her time here was far too short, Erica's light will never fade. She lives on in every wave that meets the shore, every crystal warmed by the sun, every wild creature she cared for, and every heart she touched.

She will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.

May her spirit soar freely, reunited with those who went before her.

May the wind carry her laughter, the waves hold her memory, and the earth keep her close.

And may those who loved her feel her presence in quiet moments, gentle signs, and the beauty of nature.

Rest softly, sweet girl. Your light remains.
