Esther E. Ballard
Esther was born in Frankfort on July 9, 1921 to cherry farmers, Nathan and Mary Crawford. She attended a one-room schoolhouse during her elementary years and graduated from Frankfort High School. She continued her education at St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing then Grace Hospital School of Anesthesia in Detroit.
She was a Red Cross nurse, holding a registered nurse license for 72 years and a certified nurse anesthetist for 20 years. She was also an owner and broker for Ballard Investment Realty for over 40 years.
She was a very charitable woman, having been a leader in several youth organizations, a missionary registered nurse in Costa Rica and a foster parent.
She had many interests, including water skiing with her German Shepherd, traveling to five continents and playing bridge with Delphi Duplicate Bridge League and friends.
Esther is survived by her children, Marlee (Stephen) Radosevich, Rod (Debra) Ballard, Spencer (Cindy) Ballard and Karla (Joe) Borkowski; daughter adopted by heartstrings, Pam Andrews; grandchildren, Damon, Josh, Beth, Jason, Brian, Katelyn, Andrew and Leah; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her cat, Kit-Kat.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Pastor Teresa Peterson will officiate. Burial will be at noon on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at Joyfield Township Cemetery in Joyfield Township. Visitation will be from 2 go 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
