Eugene Walter Berg Obituary
Traverse City, Michigan - Eugene Walter Berg, known as "Sunny" or "Moose," passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.
Born on March 20, 1933 in Suttons Bay, MI to Walter Lawrence and Martha Berg. Sunny was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Delores and Marylou.
He is survived by his sister Betty Watson and her husband John Watson, along with their children: Michael Watson, Richard Watson, and Kimberly Ockerlund. He also leaves behind many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews: Bailey, Joshua, Billy, Ashley, Haley, Samantha, Johnny, Mattison, and Onahlea, as well as great-great-nieces Addison and Isabel.
Sunny graduated from St. Francis High School and went on to attend Central Michigan University. He proudly served in the United States Navy before beginning a long career with RJ Reynolds, where he worked for many years.
Sunny was truly one of a kind — a selfless man with an enormous heart who touched countless lives. He found joy in simple pleasures: playing golf, spending time at Long Lake and on his pontoon, sitting in the sun anywhere, the Elks Club, and, most of all, being surrounded by his family and friends. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know him will feel the profound void his passing has left. His warmth, generosity, and larger-than-life personality will be missed deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the late summer.
