Kingsley, Michigan - Fred I. Duell, 92, of Kingsley, died Friday, September 5, 2025, at MediLodge of Traverse City. He was born April 4, 1933, in Buckley, the son of Ivan and Irene (Middaugh) Duell.

Fred was a veteran of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he worked in maintenance at the Traverse City State Hospital. His wife, Lorene, held various housekeeping and nursing positions there and the two were able to carpool to work. Fred was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.

Fred is survived by: his children, Gary (Peggy) Duell of Kingsley and Linda (Mark) Patton of Kingsley; grandchildren, Craig (Jackie) Reamer, Kevin (Hannah) Reamer, Scott (Jessica) Dawson, Kelly (Tony) Saxton, Marshall (Heather) Perry; Ben Duell, and Ashley Duell; many great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Josie (Gene) Swainston of Traverse City, Rosellia Wooley of Kingsley, and Flossie Bauer of Kingsley; sister-in-law, Rosie Duell of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.

On November 27, 1953, Fred married Lorene Velma Church who preceded him in death on January 7, 2022. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Ray Duell and Joyce (Duane) Kroupa; and brothers-in-law, Harmon Wooley and Carl Bauer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 200 N. Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, Michigan, 49649 with Pastor Colleen Wierman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, in Kingsley, with a luncheon to follow at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 10 am until time of services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kingsley United Methodist Church or to The Rock of Kingsley.
