Traverse City, Michigan - Gladys L. Watkoske, aged 97, passed away on July 8, 2025 surrounded by her family and friends at Bay Ridge Assisted Living. She was born in Leelanau County on March 21, 1928. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School and Northwestern Michigan College, after which she enjoyed a career as both a certified Dental Assistant and Medical Assistant Office Manager for over 20 years. On May 21, 1949 she married Harry G. Watkoske who preceded her in death in March 1971.
She was an avid traveler, visiting locations not only within the continental United States, but including Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean and South America. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her family, maintaining her home and yard and could often be found enjoying flowers on her daily walks.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Russell) Warren, three granddaughters Kirsten Crosby, Mackenzie Waters and Hayley (Dan) Bee, as well as her two great grandchildren Connor and Camryn Crosby.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Renee Waters, her parents Joseph and Victoria Kadrovach and numerous siblings. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family would like to thank her close friends and family at Bay Ridge Assisted Living and Hospice of Michigan for their loving support and care over the past several years.
While Gladys had an undeniable fierce and independent spirit, she was as equally generous and giving and would always try to find enjoyment and beauty in the simple things in life.
