Traverse City, MI - James Burkhart, proud owner of Rolling Valley Farms, devoted his life to working the family farm he loved alongside his partner, Shirley Priest. Born on September 15, 1936, to Goldie and Hugh J. Burkhart, Jim remained a dedicated fruit farmer throughout his life, harvesting up to his final day.

On November 30, 2025, Jim passed away peacefully at his family farm, welcomed home to break bread with the Lord.

He is survived by his partner Shirley Priest, niece Kathern Bowles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie and Hugh J. Burkhart; brother Hugh E.; nephew Gordon Burkhart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12pm, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 511 S. Garfield Avenue, Traverse City, Michigan 49686, with visitation beginning at 11am. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home following interment.
