Traverse City, Michigan - Jean (Schneider) Scott joined her loved ones in Heaven on October 13, 2025. She was eagerly awaited but will be sorely missed.

Jean grew up in New Jersey with two doting parents, a brother, and a dry and witty sister, Anne. She would visit her grandparents in the city via taxi and once lost a diamond in Grand Central Station on her way to school.

Jean was blessed to meet the love of her life, Bill, early, and was thankful for all the days they had until his death 17 weeks before hers. The life they built was good.

Together, they faithfully served the Lord, their community, and their family. They always went the extra mile for those they loved, usually literally.

They started life as a young family in Michigan before moving to Nashville, TN. Their last years were spent in Traverse City to be close to family.

Jean, a Vassar grad, was well-read and well-traveled. Her penmanship was exquisite. Her hands were never idle, constantly knitting something for her loved ones, a steadfast presence beside Bill on long road trips or flights.

She was a teacher at heart and in practice in public and religious education. Miss Jean guided generations of children in Sunday School. Her grandchildren still practice their Nashville Manners. Her great-grandchildren were showered with books and letters that encouraged them to read, write, and think.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents; sister Anne Keenan; brother Robert "Bob" Schneider; daughter Jennifer Scott; and son Bradford Scott.

She is survived by son William "Bill" Jr. (Irene); grandchildren Justin (Georgina), Christopher (Jessica), and Kaitlyn (Brian) Turner; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Jedidiah, Ludwig, Adelyn, Karl, and Nora.

A Memorial Service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, TN on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Bible Study of Traverse City.
