John W. Hicks Obituary
Traverse City, Michigan - John W. Hicks II, 83, of Traverse City, passed away at home on June 23, 2026. He leaves a loving family: his wife of 61 years, Michele M (Carroll) Hicks. Sons John (Jay) Hicks, his wife Janis M. (Haapapuro) Hicks, Timothy C. and his wife Keri (Kennerly) Hicks, and their daughters Jade and Tera. A family service will be held at a future date up north.
John grew up in Traverse City and attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After retiring from business, he volunteered with the U.S. Forestry Service in Alaska, consulted with the Peace Corps in Poland and Russia, and spent many years helping hospice and families in the Grand Traverse County. A passionate outdoorsman, John hunted and fished annually in both the United States and Canada.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Munson Healthcare Hospice Program.
