Traverse City, Michigan - Joseph Guy Aprea, devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Traverse City, Michigan, at the age of 86. Born on December 2, 1938, he was the cherished son of the late Cordiale and Elizabeth (née Ciampa) Aprea.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Pauline; his children, James (Patty) Aprea of Traverse City, Michigan; David Aprea of Nashville, Tennessee; and Cara (Andrew) Hakken of Ada, Michigan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Cassidy and Nicolas Hakken, Jack Aprea, and Danielle and Ryan Aprea; and his sister, Janet Jaros of Washington, Michigan. Joseph is preceded in death by his brother Ronald (Joyce) Aprea of Shelby Township, Michigan and brother-in-law Louis Jaros of Washington, MI.
A proud graduate of Denby High School and Wayne State University Law School, Joseph served his country honorably as a member of the Michigan National Guard. He went on to have a distinguished career as a successful attorney, dedicating over 30 years to his profession with integrity and passion.
Outside of work, Joseph was an avid handball and tennis player who relished both the competition and camaraderie both sports brought into his life. Known for his confidence, intensity, strong will, and unwavering dedication, he was also a generous provider to his family.
A funeral Mass will be held on September 12, 2025, at 8:45 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12675 Center Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686. A graveside service will immediately follow.
