Michael Allen Gionet, 56, of Copemish, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Munson Medical Center, in Traverse City, surrounded by his family after a very brief illness. He was born on Jan. 8, 1966, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Stephen and Phyllis (Schroeter) Gionet.
On Feb. 21, 2004, he married his best friend, Sandra Bradley (Dinger) in Thompsonville.
Mike worked for GEO Furnace for the past 25 years and was very proud and conscientious of each and every job he did.
David was his pride and joy and he was very proud of the young man he had become. Mike cherished teaching him at a very young age to love the outdoors as he did and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and mushrooming. He was very happy to have him as his helper the past few years at GEO because it gave them more time together. He was also a step-up dad to Lee and Kelsey. He was there for them supporting the best he could no matter what they needed. He may have thought, what now or what have you gotten me into, but he was proud to help in any way he could.
The family would like to thank Brian, Jim, Rex, Roger and the crew at GEO Furnace for all the support, calls and visits the past few weeks.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Sandy; children, David Gionet at home, William "Lee" and Heather Bradley, of Mesick; Kelsey Bradley (Nick Schulz), of Traverse City. He was a proud grandparent to Brooklyn, Gavin, Gabe, Miley, Tayshaun, Nova and Atlas. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Terry Dinger; sister-in-law, Tami Humphrey (Stuart Ashley); mother, Phyllis; brother, Steve; numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins; and his special friends, Uncle Bud, Wendell, Josh, Mike and their families.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Stephen; and his brother, David.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of His Life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on June 19, 2022, at Nessen City School House, in Nessen City.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.
