Mildred D. "Millie" Stowe, age 92, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 15, 2016. Millie was born in Fisherville, Ontario, Canada, in 1923.

She met the love of her life, a soldier, Richard J. Stowe Sr., and they married on June 2, 1945; they were best friends for the next 64 years until Richard's death. During their years together Millie and Richard lived in Jackson and Traverse City.

Millie was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and her faith. Millie was a kind and gracious person throughout her life.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard J. Stowe Sr.

She is survived by her children, Richard Jr. (Cathy), Robert (Shelly), David, Carol Stowe-Byrd (Steven) and Jeffrey (Cindy). She is also survived by grandchildren, David Byrd, Daniel Byrd, Christopher Stowe, Benjamin Stowe, Ryan Stowe, Adam Stowe, Steven Stowe and Sara Stowe.

The funeral service will be held Monday, July 18, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2900 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor David Fleming officiating. Graveside services will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens Monday at 3:30 p.m. Family will receive friends for visitation today, July 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, and on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service at church.
