Norman A. Reece
Norman A. Reece completed his earthly journey on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family; he was 74.
Norman Alfred Reece was born on July 7, 1945 to Kenneth and Josephine (Worm) Reece in Traverse City. He was raised in Traverse City alongside his brother, Bob, and graduated from St. Francis High School.
Norman began working for the Record-Eagle newspaper as a paper boy and continued to work in the distribution department for the next 45 years before retirement.
In 1965 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rose Marie Scheck. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage and their two sons, Kenneth and Daniel.
Norman had a profound appreciation for the outdoors and nature, a passion he shared and passed along to his family. His many outdoor expeditions took him to Ontario, Canada, the Canadian Rockies and the American West. However, his favorite places were Pigeon River State Forest and Scheck's Place Campground.
He will be remembered as a humble man whose actions spoke louder than his words. Above all, Norman was a proud and devoted family man. Whether it was camping with his sons or attending his granddaughter, Sierra's dance recitals and Madelyn's equestrian events, he found his greatest enjoyment with them.
He is forever loved by his wife, Rose Marie; sons, Kenneth and Daniel; granddaughters, Sierra Holly and Madelyn Marie; brother, Robert Reece; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service to honor Norman's life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one-hour prior. Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will preside.
Those wishing to honor Norman's life with a memorial donation may direct them to the granddaughters' college fund.
