Mrs. Patricia Kay Hooper (Pat) Obituary

Patricia Kay "Pat" Hooper, 94, was called home to our Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Born March 10, 1930, to Roy and Juanita Somers of Cadillac, Michigan. She spent her childhood between Cadillac, Grand Rapids and Traverse City, Michigan. She graduated from Traverse City High School in 1948.

Marrying Joseph L. Hooper on October 21, 1950, he was the love of her life and soulmate. Together they raised three children and had a successful accounting business called Photographic Bookkeeping Service in Kingsley. They also had a summer cottage on Elk Lake where they loved to entertain family and friends. They were both active members of the Kingsley United Methodist Church. On Sunday mornings you could find them in "their" pew.

Pat was devoted to her family. She loved to cross stitch and made all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild a baby blanket. She also loved to knit, making sweaters, scarves, hats, mittens, and dish cloths for all her family members. Her daughters always had a beautiful, hand sewn dress for every dance. She helped build the Cherry Festival floats for her three children and was the den mother for Cub Scouts.

Later in life she was a volunteer at Munson Medical Center spending every Thursday in the gift shop. She attended ship reunions with her husband and enjoyed spending Wednesdays at the Rock in Kingsley playing bingo and Euchre.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her parents Roy and Juanita (Ross) Somers, and her sister Barbara (Somers) Linderleaf, along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is survived by her three children, Nan (Tim) Goldsmith of Kingsley, Reed (Karen) Hooper of Kingsley, and Jill Hooper-Rocco of Ludington; six grandchildren, Alison Goldsmith, Nicole (Don) Young, Kristin Hooper, Katelyn (Sean) Leask, Elyse (Branden Shelton) Rocco, and Shay (Kyle) Jerzy; six great-grandchildren, Zoe Goldsmith, Connor Holm, Natalie Holm, Jackson Alejandro, Ronan Leask, and Jasper Leask; one great-great- grandchild, Cayson Hanley; and special family members, Kay Price, Melanie (Mario) Fernández, Sophia Fernández DuFur, Mario Nicolás Fernández DuFur, and Alex DuFur. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Pat's family extends their deepest thanks and gratitude to the staff at Boardman Lake Glens for their kind and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 2 pm at Kingsley United Methodist Church with a visitation starting at 1 pm. A private family interment will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kingsley United Methodist Church or The Rock of Kingsley.
