Cadillac, MI - Patricia Ann Kindlinger, affectionately known as "Pat," passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at French Manor Terra in Traverse City at the age of 94. She was born on May 21, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to William R. and Hazel M. (Graumiller) Doherty. Pat lived a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and caring for others. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of the newly formed Troy High School. Throughout her life, she had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. While raising her family, her home was often filled with neighborhood children, and she found great joy in caring for them and creating a place where everyone felt loved and accepted. Pat had many talents and passions. She had a green thumb and took pride in her gardens. She was known for her delicious cooking, abundant canning, and homemade baked goods that brought family and friends together around her table. She also had a special fondness for Chihuahua dogs, especially her beloved companion, Tinkerbell. Anyone who knew Pat knew that Christmas was her favorite time of year. She embraced the season with unmatched enthusiasm, filling her home with beautiful decorations, holiday music, and an endless supply of homemade cookies, candies, and baked goods. Christmas shopping was a labor of love for her, and she took great joy in selecting thoughtful gifts for family and friends. More than anything, she loved bringing people together and creating a sense of warmth, comfort, and celebration. For her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Christmas at Grandma's was not just a holiday, it was a treasured family tradition made special by her love and generosity.

Many Cadillac residents came to know and love Pat during her 11 years at Big Boy. Working the salad bar, she greeted customers with a warm smile and friendly conversation. So many people enjoyed seeing her that they often planned their visits around her schedule. Her kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on countless members of the community. Pat's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Linda (Walter) Unke, Christopher (Christina) Kindlinger, Lisa (Jon) Lackie, and Julie (Doug) Cederberg; her grandchildren Amanda (Josh), Samantha, Ashley, Wilson (Sydney), Thomas, Noah, Gavin, Savannah, Tessa, Andrew (Becca), Jonathon, Elisabeth (Anthony), Braden, Austin, Cole, and Grace; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and the example of love and generosity she set. On February 20, 1960, she married William Robert Kindlinger. They shared many years together until his passing on October 13, 1987. Pat was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jamie Kraak, and her siblings June McReynolds, Robert Doherty, Gerald Doherty, Virginia Hamm, and an infant sister. Pat will be remembered for her welcoming heart, unwavering devotion to her family, generous spirit, and the countless lives she touched through simple acts of kindness. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the many people whose lives were brighter because she was part of them. The family extends its deepest appreciation to the extraordinary staff of French Manor Terra. Their kindness, patience, and genuine love for Pat enriched her life in countless ways. They cared for her not simply as a resident, but as a cherished member of their family, bringing comfort, companionship, laughter, and dignity to her final years. Knowing she was surrounded by such compassionate people provided immeasurable peace of mind to those who loved her. We will forever be grateful for the exceptional care and friendship they gave to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac, with Pastor Jason Bauer officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. A light luncheon will be served afterward, and burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
