Lake Ann, MI - Penny Jeanne Dahl (Penny Davis) passed away on August 29, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Lake Ann, Michigan. She was 81 years old. Born on August 9, 1944, Penny was the oldest daughter of Marion Davis. She grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, and graduated from Traverse City Central High School. Following her graduation, she pursued a career in cosmetology by attending Chic University of Cosmetology in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After becoming a licensed beautician, Penny began her professional journey at Vivian's Beauty Salon. With entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her craft, Penny later partnered with her good friend Bonnie Nowak to open Kurlie Q Salon. Together they owned and operated the salon for several years, creating a welcoming space for their clients and community. During this time, Penny met Greg Dahl of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They married and welcomed their son Shaun into their lives. In addition to Shaun, Penny embraced Greg's children as part of her extended family. Later in life, Penny and Shaun returned to Traverse City, where she began working as a cook at The Grand Traverse Pavilions. She remained there until her retirement. Penny was preceded in death by her mother Marion Davis; her former husband Greg Dahl; and a stepdaughter, Dawn Dahl. Penny had a multitude of artistic talents, besides being a beautician. She was an avid gardener, an avid seamstress, she did knitting, crocheting, needle point painting/ drawing, and was an avid reader, and puzzle solver. She loved DIY projects, and wood furniture refinishing. She enjoyed many meaningful conversations around the table with friends and family. She is survived by her son Shaun Dahl and his wife Jessica (Bersock) of Danvers, Illinois; stepsons Lance Dahl of Hampton, MN, Nathan Dahl of Big Lake, MN, and Chad Dahl of Moderna Valley, California. She is also survived by her siblings Wendie Moses (Wendie Davis) and husband Ron of Highland Ranch, CO, brother Russ Davis of Traverse City MI, sister Ann Collins (Ann Davis) of Traverse City MI. Penny has many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Penny will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was a solid sounding board for those close to her. Penny's life reflected dedication to family and work. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. Cremation has taken place. Family will hold a private Celebration of Life in the Spring of 2026
