Ralph LaVerne Roberts, of Thompsonville, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 at his home in Thompsonville with his daughter, Beverly, and son-in-law, James B. Reed, by his side.

Ralph was born Dec. 31, 1920 the son of Alfred and Alice (Blackburn) Robert, of Detroit. Ralph married Lenore E. Wolcott on June 22, 1940 in Detroit. They moved to Thompsonville in 1971.

He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was an active member of the Copemish congregation. He devoted his life to serving Jehovah and guiding others along the way; he never missed an opportunity to share God's word with his fellow man.

Ralph was a retired Detroit policeman. He was descended from a long line of wood crafters and carried on the tradition. He could see something and replicate it and started a business called "Copy Cat Furniture." Ralph had a quick wit and was a true comedian.

He is survived by his son, Gary A. (Norma) Roberts, of Williamsburg; daughters, Beverly A. (James) Reed, of Copemish, Nancy A. (Jack) Soper, of Bath, and Laura A. (James) Coffman, of Novato, California; son-in-law, Garry Rosam, of Thompsonville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore E.; a daughter, Yvonne Rosam; his parents; and two sisters, Ruth Walters and Madeline Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 22451 Cadillac Highway, near Litzen Road, Copemish. Doug Wallace, an elder from the congregation, will officiate.
