Richard H. Hoover
Rich was born April 3, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Richard and Elaine (Howard) Hoover. On May 21, 1971 in Kirkwood, Missouri, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Frankel) Hoover.
Rich graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in chemical engineering in 1971.
He proudly spent his entire career with Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, holding a variety of jobs over 31 years, including sales, marketing and administration. The work allowed him to live in Midland, New Jersey, Miami, Mexico City and Tokyo, where he was corporate senior vice president and president for the Asian area.
Beth and Rich retired to the Northport area in 2002 to their home on Lake Michigan.
Rich enjoyed traveling, cooking, the art of bonsai and following the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team.
Rich served for years on the board of the Leelanau Conservancy, working to preserve the region he loved so much.
Family, friends and colleagues remember him as a sincere, loving and patient man with a dry sense of humor. Rich was strong-willed, enjoyed tackling challenges and welcomed new adventures. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, friend and respected mentor.
Rich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beth; a son, Richard (Akiko Yada) Hoover; a daughter, Ginger (Brian) Ebert; his granddaughters, Maya and Emmi Hoover and Elianne Ebert; his grandsons, Max and Spencer Ebert; two sisters, Leslie Hoover and Alicia (Roger) Rieder; cherished nieces and nephews; cousins; and dear friends all over the world.
