Robert W. Truax

Robert William Truax, 64, of Traverse City, passed away July 16, 2019 with his fiancée by his side. Bob was born on March 1, 1955 to the late William and Marilyn (Nelson) Truax in Detroit.
For over 45 years Bob was in the landscaping business, of which for 30 years he successfully owned and ran his own business. After retiring his green thumb, he went on to have a 17-year career with Bill Marsh as the facility manager. He took pride in making sure the outside landscape was pristine and even up until the end was placing calls to remind people to water and fertilize the recently planted trees.
Bob was well known for all his selfless acts of kindness, his love of fishing, his passion for the outdoors and the exploration of travel and new restaurants. He was the team captain in high school for swimming and a self-proclaimed badminton champion.
Tragically, he was diagnosed with brain cancer in February and was unable to walk the aisle with his fiancée, Nancy Stout. Although the magic was missed with the wedding, they decided to enjoy traveling to Alaska to celebrate their honeymoon.
He is survived and missed dearly by his fiancée; his family friends, Mike and Kerry Marsh, Cindy McCort and Kevin Dillon; his entire Bill Marsh automotive extended family; and many other dear friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail; his parents; and his faithful and beloved four-legged German Shepard.
A funeral Mass to celebrate his life will take place on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Bob was a selfless soul. Cared truly for everyone's happiness. I am truly blessed to have known him for the passed 11yrs. Our friendship started when he basically hired me on the spot when Saturn was still around. Our friendship grew throughout the years. Not long after I started cleaning his house. I got to see a different side of Bob and the love he had for his late wife Gail. He taught me a lot about gardening that I didn't know. He was my go to person if I had any questions for my own garden. I was so happy when he got a second chance at love again. You could see it in his eyes the love he had for Nancy. What a blessing this was. After all the dating sites and scary stories. He fou...nd a great a great new beginning. Nancy, know that Bob loved you dearly. He will be truly missed and I will think of him often. I loved Bob very muchRead more
