Traverse City, Michigan - Robert John Zientek, a lifelong resident of Traverse City was born into eternal life on December 31, 2025 at the age of 64.
Bob was born on January 19, 1961 to the late Robert Frank and Carol Ann (Kroupa) Zientek.
He graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1979. While in high school he was a proud member of the cross-country team which won the Lake Michigan Athletic Conference Championship. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Northern Michigan University. He spent a few years substitute teaching and then transitioned to pharmaceutical sales where he excelled. He was recognized nationally with several awards and honors. He primarily worked for Bristol Myers. He had many opportunities to leave Traverse City but he always loved it here for it was home.
He was proud to care for his historic family cherry farm. He maintained it beautifully and one of his biggest accomplishments was preserving it with the help of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.
He will be remembered for his fierce love for his family, his love for hunting and fishing, especially on Drummond Island and the UP and for his love of cheering on the Michigan State Basketball team.
He is survived by his sister Diane and brother Greg.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 2 pm, with visitation beginning one hour prior at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
