Fife Lake, MI - Rollin "Rollo" Jones, 63, of Fife Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida on January 6, 2026, after an eight-year, fiercely fought battle with complications from leukemia, surrounded by his loving family.
Rollo was born to Rollin and Lloy (Battenfield) Jones and was raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was a graduate of Ann Arbor Huron High School and Central Michigan University. Following college, Rollo attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Though his life took him many places, his heart was always at home on the family farm in Fife Lake, Michigan, where he spent summers with his grandparents—days that shaped his love of hard work, craftsmanship, and quiet reflection.
He was a man of gentle strength-quiet, humble, kind, and deeply loving as a husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. Rollo was extremely intelligent and a lifelong learner, driven by a deep curiosity about the world and how things worked. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord and lived his faith openly, serving as a witness to others through his words and actions. Known for his eternal optimism, Rollo referred to every medical challenge as "just another bump in the road," a reflection of the steady strength and hopeful outlook he carried through even the hardest seasons of life. Even when standing behind him, you could see his smile from ear to ear.
Rollo served as a Combat Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he embodied the strength, discipline, and determination of a true Marine. Following his military service, he worked in road construction and heavy equipment sales. An avid woodworker, Rollo was a true craftsman and artist, taking pride in building things with his hands. He was also a talented cook, often expressing care and creativity through food.
He was married to the love of his life, Brigid Jones, for 39 years. Together they raised three children: Allie (Shawn) Gray of Benzonia, Michigan; Charles Jones of Traverse City, Michigan; and Michael (McKenzie) Jones of Jacksonville, Florida. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren: Mollie, Cora, David, and Teddy Jones; Jacob Crouse; Mairenn, Emmett, and Callahan Gray; and Declan and Emerson Jones.
Rollo was preceded in death by his father, Rollin A. Jones; his niece, Emma Jones; his parents-in-law, Edward and Catherine Corcoran; his brother-in-law, Craig Hartley; and his sister-in-law, Janet Corcoran.
He is survived by his mother, Lloy (Battenfield) Jones; his siblings, Thomas (Becky) Jones, Susan (Kent) Fuhr, and Ransom (Kelly) Jones; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, James (Patricia) Corcoran, Dan (Anne) Corcoran, Joe (Maria Reynolds) Corcoran, Sheila (Rick) Stone, Mike (Amelia) Corcoran, Maureen Hartley, Kevin (Dianne) Corcoran, and Cathy (Kevin) Crowe. He is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews and 42 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Above all else, Rollo found his greatest meaning and fulfillment in his love for his children, grandchildren, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus—a love that defined him and remains his enduring legacy.
A celebration of life is planned for the spring, details will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Semper Fi & Americas Fund at https://thefund.org/donate/
