Ronald Lee DeHate, Jr., age 61, passed away on Aug. 25, 2023, peacefully at home with his family there after fighting a brave battle with cancer for two and a half years.

Ron was born Oct. 8, 1961, in Pinconning Michigan to Ronald (Sr.) and Susan DeHate. The family later relocated to Clio, Michigan where Ron attended and graduated from Clio High School in 1979. He then later graduated from the Nashville Auto-Diesel College in 1981. Ron was a gifted and skilled machinist, working in the industry for over 30 years.

On Oct. 23, 1982, he married the love of his life, Angela Bell. They resided in Flint for a few years before moving to Kalkaska Michigan in 1990 where they still live. They are the proud parents of two amazing children and grandchildren.

Ron loved doing anything outdoors, especially camping with family and friends. He loved boating, snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. He was also the master of his garage. He had the reputation of being able to build or fix anything.

Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years, Angie; daughter, Amanda (William) Ritchie; son, Jacob DeHate; grandchildren, Avelyn and Marcus Ritchie; his mom, Susan; brothers, Jeff & Anna, Matt & Deneen, Darren & Michelle and Chris & Michelle. There are also many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ron Sr.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held, date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Ron & Angie have requested donations be made to the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation in Ron's memory.
