Traverse City, MI - Sharon Amelia Oxley

July 12, 1943 - April 14, 2026

Sharon Amelia Oxley, a lifelong resident of the Grand Traverse area, peacefully passed away on April 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 12, 1943, in Antrim County, Michigan, she spent her life embodying the warmth and resilience of the community she called home for over eighty years.

In February 1962, Sharon married Eugene Bevelhymer. Together, they started a family that would become Sharon's greatest pride and joy. She was a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, Scott and Terry, whom she absolutely adored. Her family was her heart, and she poured her soul into raising her boys with the same strength and love she carried throughout her life.

While her family was her primary focus, Sharon also dedicated 35 years of her life to a career at Sara Lee Bakery. There, she was known not just for her hard work and reliability, but for the enduring friendships she cultivated throughout the decades. For Sharon, her colleagues were an extended family, and those bonds remained strong long after her retirement.

Sharon was a woman of excellence in everything she touched. She maintained an immaculate home and was meticulous with everything she did, taking great pride in the sanctuary she created for her loved ones. Some of her happiest moments were spent on her patio, hosting family cookouts filled with laughter and good food. While her family will deeply miss her cooking, her daughters-in-law look forward to honoring her memory by carrying on her most beloved recipes, ensuring her spirit remains at the center of every family gathering.

Above all, Sharon was a warrior. A strong cancer survivor, she inspired everyone around her with the incredible strength, dignity, and grace she displayed throughout her journey. She was a woman who truly always left a room a little brighter than she found it. Known for her "Gift of Gab" and her vibrant, warm personality, she had a way of making every conversation feel special.

Sharon's legacy of love, conversation, and care will live on through the many lives she touched. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sharon is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Vickie Bevelhymer of Grawn, and Terry and Kris Bevelhymer of Interlochen; her sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Gaylon Harrison of Des Moines, Iowa; her brother and sister-in-law, Art and Kay Swanson of Battle Creek; and many dear lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Oxley; her mother, Eileen Schaub; her father, Leonard Green; and her beloved grandson, Thomas Bevelhymer.

Celebration of Life and Resting Place: In accordance with Sharon's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest at Inland Township Cemetery, where she will remain alongside her beloved grandson, Thomas.

Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life luncheon on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. This will be held in the gathering room of the Interlochen Eagles.

Those wishing to give a gift of memory may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as this was one of Sharon's favorite charities.
