Traverse City, Michigan - William "Bill" J. Hermann, age 82, passed away September 18, 2025 peacefully as he napped. Born in 1942, Bill was the eldest of six children and grew into a man marked by service, commitment, and a deep love for his family.

From 1966 to 1968, Bill served his country with honor as a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army. Following his service, he pursued a career in health care, dedicating himself to others as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. His calm presence, skill, and joyful personality touched countless lives over the years.

Bill was a loving husband of 62 years to his wife, Nancy, and a proud father to Bill Jr., Lisa, Deanna, and Damian. He found immense joy in his role as grandfather to Jordan, Melissa, Zack, Thea, Ella, Lettie, Joe, Madeleine, and as great-grandfather to little Lola. Family was always at the center of his life, and his warmth and humor lives on through them.

Bill had a gift for connecting with people. He loved a good conversation, no matter where he was, and delighted in connecting with all people. His adventurous spirit took him around the world, with travels to France, the Dominican Republic, and Africa, where he almost got to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro :) He was also an avid reader, who was never without a book. He loved to read history, biographies, and literature. He was known for his ability to turn even the smallest memory into a story, whether the tale was true or not.

Those who knew Bill will remember his kindness, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His legacy is one of service and love

He lived a well loved life and will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends.
